School Project

Maruku Arts wants to bring the magic of Uluru to your school. Two Anangu teachers (people of the central desert) and two facilitators will show your students the way of the desert.

Through art and other hands on experiences your students will learn about Anangu culture, some Pitjantjatara words, how tools were made out of natural materials, how to identify an animal without even seeing it and what the ancient symbols in the art work from the central deserts mean. In our 90 minute lesson we aim to cover major points in the new Australian curriculum. As Aboriginal culture differs from place to place Maruku Arts will teach you about the culture from the Pitjantjatara, Ngaanyatjarra and Yankunytjatjara lands but we encourage you to reach out to your local indigenous leaders as well.
