Janet Forbes is minyma Yarnangu, a Ngaanyatjarra speaking Aboriginal woman from the  Western Desert of Australia.  She is a dedicated community spokesperson who helped established the Blackstone Women’s Centre, working on fabric painting, printing and making spinifex grass paper. This was followed by Papulankutja Artists with whom she continues to paint. A highly experienced wood carver, Janet also works with Tjanpi Desert Weavers making grass baskets and sculptures. She is closely involved with both the Ngaanyatjarra Shire Council and the NPY Women’s Council. Janet is also a current member of the Desart Board.
