Sandy Willie

Sandy Willie is Anangu tjilpi, a senior Aboriginal man from the Central and Western Desert area of Australia. Born in the bush, he grew up to become a stockman and in his travels learnt to paint from some of the founders of the Australian Central Desert art movement in Papunya. He began painting seriously in 2007 and since then has gained acclaim through a number of exhibitions. With Sandy’s high level knowledge of Tjukurpa, he is a respected traditional consultant and plays a key role in manageng the Katiti Petermann Indigenous Protected Area.
